do cryptids get updated or patched liek other monsters do????
every so foten adventurers get noitces that theres “balance changes” w/e that means to monstesrs liek corruptionbeasts
i know some peeps think cryptids r mistakes in teh system sorta
“gods blunders” as theyre called
so do thye get fixed??? woud we remembemr if they get fixed???

Oh, that’s a good point.
Having worked with the backend to our servers somewhat to fiddle with code though, I can pretty much guarantee that a bunch of slip through the cracks critters are probably low priority.
If they do get “fixed” it’s probably through some other larger fix or update.

isn’t this like that other group of nerds like us researching what they think are changes and updates to the world that slip the notice of most people?

Oh I recall hearing about them!
They believe minor things were different in the recent past and got changed for whatever reason. Their “effect” is named after the instrument because they’re convinced it was the “Mandalin” until the spelling got updated, except the only proof they have for any of these so-called changes is their collective faulty memory.

Not to throw stones in glass houses, but they’re probably worse off than us in terms of credibility.
I think they sometimes convince each other of a change by talking about it obsessively.
At least we get the rarely encountered bug or critter or entity to experience in person and sometimes even document.
Rissuna at the very least is still recorded as a beloved mascot of Rissun Bay, no matter if she ever existed.

but that maybe b/c Rissuna has a sizable cultural impact
it would be weird to modify so many memories about a notable figure
of course that’s kinda what the Mandolin Effect guys say happens anyway

this is an intriguing topic
i want to believe it depends on the cryptid
some of them might be too complicated to fix immediately so they might stay for a long time
others might only appear briefly and no one really notices so they get fixed without a single word
still others might appear suddenly get a lot of recognition and thus are hard to simply “fix” maybe leading to this Mandolin Effect
as the world continues to be developed more cryptids appear and disappear

Now that you mention it... There was once this deer that appeared suddenly in the middle of a Xenokuni city park. It was perched on the side of a large unclimbable boulder and couldn’t be reached to be attacked like a normal monster. People couldn’t shoot at it properly either.
The deer became a bit of a sightseeing destination until it mysteriously vanished the same week.
Or at least, I’m pretty sure it existed. I definitely took a picture of it that I still have, so maybe that was a cryptid that got fixed?
